The ӰƵ mourns the death of Mary Elizabeth Mullikin (’11) who passed away recently.
Mullikin, a 2011 graduate of ӰƵ, served as a lobbyist and health care attorney forBlue Cross Blue Shieldof South Carolina – the largest health insurance provider in the Palmetto State.
“The ӰƵ family is saddened to hear of the passing of our graduate, Mary Elizabeth Mullikin,” said Interim President Constance Anastopoulo. “During her time at the law school, Mary Liz participated in Moot Court and went on to have a successful career in law and as a lobbyist. She will be remembered for her friendship, her collegiality and her advocacy, and her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her.”
Prior to her work with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Mullikin was an associate at Mullikin Law Firm. She also spent three years serving in the White House as a member of the Presidential Advance Team under former President George W. Bush.
“Mary Liz was one of a kind and her impact will live on through the many people who loved her,” said Charleston Law classmate Whitney Feld.
Known for her deep conviction for supporting victims of domestic abuse, Mullikin served on the board of directors of Pathways to Healing, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization aimed at ending sexual violence through advocacy, education, and supportive services for domestic abuse victims in South Carolina. She was “uniquely tenacious and zealous advocate … and was beloved by legislators and government affairs colleagues.”
Mullikin earned her undergraduate degree in business from theMoore Schoolat the University of South Carolina.
