Maritime event brings industry leader to Charleston

杏吧视频 offers an advanced degree program in Admiralty and Maritime Law. The program brings students together with the most experienced practitioners, judges, and professors across a broad range of admiralty law specialties, as well as with non-lawyer maritime professionals who make our port such a success.

Charleston Law adjunct professor Gordon Schreck represented the school at last week鈥檚 event co-hosted by the and the , Port of Charleston.

The 聽is the largest membership organization on the Charleston waterfront, representing all of the State鈥檚 maritime shipping interests while networking with those who wish to engage and succeed in transportation and related service industries.

Honorable Carl W. Bentzel,聽former Commissioner of the , served as the keynote speaker at the event.

Bentzel spoke on the dangers of the rising level of dependence by U.S. shippers on container transportation services and equipment provided by entities of the People’s Republic of China, including 75% of the world’s merchant container fleet, 98% of ocean containers used in global trade, and most of the world’s ship-to-shore container cranes.

Bentzel currently serves as the President of the and Executive Director of the National Maritime Safety Association in D.C.

According to Professor Schreck, Bentzel has agreed to reprise his talk at an upcoming Zoom conference with Schreck’s class on Intermodal Container Transportation Law.
